Darker Glasses.. work for me. I like Ray Ban. Keep Tylenol handy, that helps too when the pressure is on..

Proper fitting glasses, I too like the light weight poly ones...lots of water, and FOOD!
I hate it because I just know that lunker is just waiting for my next cast but you just can't drink too much water when your on the water.
If you feel your self getting thirsty your experincing the first indication of being dehydrated.
Sorry!! I'll get off my soap box now.

Originally posted by K.D.: I have to disagree with Jay on this one. I understand what he's saying, but glass lenses aren't the answer. You want the polycarbonate lenses. They are shatterproof. Take a 1/4 oz t-rig weight to the eye-glass lense and see what happens to the only eyes God gave you when the glass lense shatters! I was only speaking from experience. I've got very sensitive eyes, I hate it, because I really liked the light penetration of the Costa Del Mar wavekillers and Polarized Oakley Jackets. After 2-3 days with each, it was obvious they were giving me fits. I went with glass and it's been all gravy since then. I know I probably don't have any business buying expensive glasses as I seen to lose them way too easily, as Kelly can attest. Anytime someone complains about sore eyes after a day on the water in which they had on glasses, I suggest they give premium glass a try because of the reduced distortion, especially in the corners of the lenses. As for losing an eyes, I've never given much thought to that as I've seen most lures coming at my face and been able to get out of the way. My crotch, on the other hand, has taken a beating from an array of top waters and other hard baits lately. For some reason my groin has become a magnet for treble hooks this year. Good thought on the glass injuring an eye thing though.

Do youself a favor and don't skimp out on sunglasses. Bolle and Maui Jim's are my favorite. Bolle makes a pair of "Kickbacks" that are awsome and almost identical to the Maui's. They are about $95 compaired to the the $160 for Maui's.

Yeah, I agree with most that's due to cheap lenses. We've tried Cocoons and really dig em! See how those treat ya! You can get a pair at Lake Fork Marina for a pretty good price too.

Maui Jim, Costa Del Mar, Oakley are the best. I also have a pair of amber colored Bolle h20's and they are light weight and well made. Also, make sure you get the kind that wrap around at least a little to avoid back light reflections. Although with my Maui Jims you don't need to worry about it, cause they have anti reflection on the back that is outstanding.

BassDreamer is right on! Three best brands on the market by far! I have done quite a bit of research on this topic and have lost more than my fair share of good sunglasses. I Keep buying more but almost feel it is a waste but I have to protect my eyes. the companies mentioned by bassdreamer use a multilayer lens where the polarization is in the middle of the lens and the polarized film can not be scratched or worn off. Lots of cheaper glasses will just have a coating on the outside of the lens. Glass or polycarbonate, its up to you. Glass is heavier and doesnt scratch as easily and the polycarbonate is just the opposite. If you want to learn about sunglasses, go to mauijim.com or the costa website. As of now, I have MauiJims, Costa's, Revo's, and some oakley's. All are polarized but the MauiJims get the most play because they are light and I almost forgett that I have them on. The only bad thing is that I cant take them off and put them on my hat, If I do they will disapear into the deep..

Most of these manufacturers use the same lens, and even the few lens manufacturers that are out there use the same factory. Chris, from C-Sports Optical has been a huge help in this regard on several forums. Here is an interview with him on the Yamamoto site. He shares some information many folks might not realize. http://www.insideline.net/2001/crockett-0506-01.html
