After reading about all the sandie action on the vine over the weekend, I couldn't resist trying it tonight after work. So packed family up and hit the water about 6:30pm. Started by running over to twin coves area but no real action there so we decided to make the run over to dam. Worked bubbles and caught a bunch of small blacks and a few small sandies. Decided to troll around with the graph and see if we could find any bigger sandies. Well about half way between the bubbles and the marina, we found them. We were in 35feet of water and fish were suspended between 10-20 feet and there were a bunch! Dropped down to them and were catching them on 1/2 ounce slabs, shad tail jigs and live shad. At times we had 2 or 3 on at a time and some were well over a pound! About 30 mins before sundown, we left them biting and headed back to murall ramp. Would you believe we ran right into schoolies out from murall park! At least 100 yards of schooling fish and so we threw jigs and slabs at them and caught a few more before I decided we should call it a day. Kept about a dozen nice fat ones for home and have to say it was a perfect day on the water. Almost no wind and great fishing. Everybody caught a bunch of fish and we left them biting. I got some pics on my phone so will load later if they turned out.

ok here is a shot they took of the old man with one of the blacks at the bubbles tonight. They were really chasing the shad and we caught them on shad tail and curly tailed jigs.

Last night was fun. Had 1/2 acre of schools toward Rock Crusher at any given time. Had it to ourselves from 6:30 till 8:00 most were 9" but had a few go 14" with the Wife and daughter included, we had well over 100 fish with triples all the time. So many fish you couldn't set your rod down on the side of the boat or a sandie would grab the bait(4 times). All on Mice, Hummdingers and little georges. Tried to fish deep but a slab couldn't make it to the bottom. Kept a dozen for the fryer.

bigmack, you shoulda been out there yesterday, bite was definately on! JW, sounds like they were biting all over. We thought about going to crusher last night but went to dam instead. Sounds like either spot would have been fun. I can relate to setting pole down and getting fish. I was taking all fish off for the Mrs and had 2 or 3 times where I would have fish on holding rod with my foot while unhooking fish for wife. Was very fun to see my pole bent over side of boat and me holding it with foot trying not to lose my rod! The other cool thing was seeing them schooling over at murall point. Looks like summer pattern is finally here

Yes, fun day for sure. The girls had a blast. Beats the one fish I had Sunday. The no wind and boats sure helped.

OK,I'm still trying to set up a time with our friend's daughter but, I've been wanting to follow up my questions from last week? When's the Best bite, am or pm, but it looks like both. I would call 50 in the am dang good! Can you catch sandies during the middle of the day too? Thanks.

You can catch surfacing sandies all day long but alot of them are smaller. You can definately catch them during the middle of the day but I have the best luck catching sandies during the first 2 hours or last 2 hours of sunlight. If you want to get some good sandie action at the vine, now is the time. Several boaters have reported great fishing in the past 2-3 days. I'd be out there right now but we have company so no fishing for me till the weekend

Well I could be wrong but from the pic I saw the mice look alot like the humdingers . I believe you could use a curly tail grub or a fluke type bait on a lead head jig. When they're schooling on top I think you could throw a cigarette but to them and they would bite it. My two cents.
