Just returned from a weekend trip to Broken Bow. Started out yesterday morning at Zone 2, caught 1 rainbow around 10 inches, my buddy did the same. Left there and went to the "evening hole" but nothing was working. Fished the spill way creek with the same results, saw several people with spinning gear leaving with several rainbows each all were small. Got up this morning and hit the Cold Hole walking down stream to the evening hole. Landed 2 rainbows around 10 or 12 inches and caught 1 14 to 15 inch cut throat in the evening hole. That one fish made the trip all worth while and was by far the funnest fish I've caught on a fly rod to date.

I was using my Sage Z-Axis 9 foot 6 wt with a G-Loomis East Fork reel and Scientific Angler floating fly line. The rainbow caught on Saturday and the Cut throat were caught on tan midges and the 2 rainbows caught this morning were caught on olive wooley booger.

This was my first trip to broken bow and I'm sure I'll be back...

Brokenbow is great. I got to go for the first time last December and we wore them out. One of the best times I've ever had. Plus, it is so beautiful there. Can't wait to go back.

We all need to make a trip there to Broken Bow this FALL. I am serious guys. Mike and I were discussing this earlier this evening. (I wrote this on another post on here as well)

Anyway glad you like Broken Bow. I have heard so much about it. Kingfisher are there nice, reasonable motels there? I wonder how soon in advance I would need to make a reservation?

My buddy had made the reservations, he called on Thursday and it was his 2nd or 3rd place to call. We had a cabin that slept 5 and I think it was 125 a night, but not too sure. We stayed at Pine Meadows Lodge.

That is way too expensive for me. Well maybe I will have to get a camping spot.....LOL. If they don't have more reasonable rooms, that is just what I will do. Sounds like fun anyway. I love to camp out. (when the weather isn't too hot)

This is the fly shop we used, http://www.threeriversflyshop.com/ and we stayed at http://www.pinemeadowcabins.com/ I'm sure there are other places to stay that would be cheaper.

I have stayed at Microtel Motel in Broken Bow, it was around 60 bucks for a room, the Broken Bow Inn is across the street (next to the casino) and its around 50 a night, the Ultimate besides a cabin is Lakeview Lodge on the lake but it's pricey. I have camped at Beavers Bend before and its not bad in the fall. They have cabins in the park from 60 that sleeps 2 or 3 on up.

I would love to get back up there this fall. Does anybody have any perspective dates? I'd love to get out there with my 4wt.

My brother-in-law and I went and just got an efficiency for about $55/night. Nothing special, but we were just there to fish and drink beer, so it suited us just fine. If you're looking for an efficiency and you're bunking with your buddy, make sure you specify that you want one with two beds, though. We almost got stuck in one with one bed until I double checked.

so, i will now attempt to highjack this thread with this question...IS THERE ANY INTEREST IN A TFF FLY FISHING GET-TOGETHER AT BROKEN BOW THIS FALL ? I fished with fellow TFF'r kelkay the other day & we are both interested in a weekend of fly fishing/tying camping & relaxing, for those that don't know Beavers Bend Park on the Lower Mountain Fork river is stocked (often) by the state of Oklahoma with trout, mostly rainbow, but the state record (17 lb I believe) Brown also came from these waters, there are also smallmouth & walleye, there are numerous camping/accomidation options and 2 fly shops with guides, any suggestions are encouraged.

I would love to go. Would depend on the date - would like to take my son (15 yr old) and camp and fish and meet more TFF'rs.

Losers blame everybody else and give up.

Yes, I'd love to go. If we could keep the date(s) sometime in the middle of the month I might actually be able to make it. Mid Sept would be best for me, though I could probably do mid Oct. Early/End of month is pretty much out due to my work schedule.
