Never fished EML for cats and I was wondering whats the best way to put a couple fish in the boat for the freezer? I plan on fishing EML in the next couple weeks. Thanks in advance.

Brad,

<Coordinates deleted ... these were coordinates that I fish at and had not been given to me (or their general locations) by others>.

Here are three of the places I like to go. If you don't have GPS, use the excellent http://maps.live.com free software and see satelite imagery with embedded lat/long coordinates (this is where I got the numbers I entered). These are coordinates that I have found to work.

Hope you have good luck ... please post back your results.

Neil

Brad, if you have a depth finder, try the humps south of the island near that first coordinate that Neil gave you. The hump closest to the island wasd holding a lot of kitties saturday. We sat over 10- 12 ft deep water and couldn't keep bait on bottom. Dk's punch bait and night crawlers.... Good Luck, Jeff

Guys,
A number of folks have contacted me offline expressing concern about the posting of lat/long coordinates. I want to stress that these coordinates are the places that I fish at and were not supplied to me by anyone. The coordinates came from opening up http://maps.live.com and clicking in the approximate place where I fish (its pretty detailed mapping) and transposing the coordinates. These were not PM'd to me or shown to me by any other person. I sure as heck won't claim that they are "my" spots ... I don't even know what that would mean. They are places where I looked and went "that looks fishy" ... anchored my ski boat and started to fish. If I caught a fish ... I was happy and went back there again. These are in no-way honey holes ... if they are it is purely by accident that I found them.

The names to the left of the coordinates in my post are rough names ... to see where a coordinate is, go there on a boat or bring up the free maps.live.com software and go see them. I think everyone will look at these and say that they are not "breaking confidence" for anyone.

Multiple folks have contacted me off line and said that if I post coordinates then they will never tell me anything again. Naturally I don't want to offend anyone and hope to be one of the good guys on the lake ... but these coordinates are in no way related to ANYTHING anyone has told me about locations of hot fishing spots and if anyone did share these with me I'd be sure not to break confidence. I'd like us all to be good sports on the lake and share commraderie when we meet and also help each other (like MANY have helped me) to get more from our hobby and pasttime.

If someone give you a location ... ask yourself if they would be happy if you posted the coordinates? Also ask yourself ... where did THEY get the coordinates? If you find an area or spot which is productive to you ... ask yourself how you came to find that spot and if you honestly believe that you simply stumbled on it and it isn't (say ... within 200-300 feet of somewhere that you know you shouldn't share) ... the choice of sharing may be your own ... in all sincerity ... I can't see the harm in that.

I had a chat with a good guy today that I respect tremendously on the subject of posting GPS coordinates. He said something that made perfect sense to me.

He said that no matter how helpful you are and how pure and kind your motives may be when posting coordinates ... if you do that then your fellow fishermen and fishing friends will no longer share their locations with you. The naieve and kind part of me says that this won't be so ... surely if we all help each other to enjoy out sport that much more then all will be good. But this kind of generous thinking has to be tempered with a healthy dose of reality. I sure don't want my existing fishing friends and future fishing friends to not think they can trust me with anything that they choose to share with me with the understanding that it won't be shared with others.

So with that thinking in mind I have been advised and now agree with the notion not to share any coordinates or locations on the public forum.

I had never posted coordinates before, bought a GPS Tom-Tom on Friday ... and will now no longer post any coordinates again. I do this in the desire that others will feel comfortable chatting with me without thinking that I will break their trust and confidence.

Sorry Neil-I was not my intention to get you in trouble. It seems absurd that it is that easy to ruffle feathers on the internet.

I applaud you for being stand up and after all of this "trouble" I won't even fish the coordinates you gave me.

I thought bass fishermen were bad.

So what you are saying is no one really cares if you give a real mighty detailed bank fishing spot and how to get to it, but it is a super sin to give out cord. for being in a boat.
This is bull#$*&@ and not right. mad

First off I want to apoligze to some of the forum members for my latest post here about the cord. system and fishing. Sometimes i type things down and post them before I take a long thought out process on what to type.
I summed it up in my post that there was no differnce from posting a cord. and giving out a great bank fishing spot. Well. I was dead wrong on that line of thought. The reason is, some people have to make a living and put food down on the table for there family by taking us fishermen out to a fishing hole of theres that they found, and they have to produce fish or they will suffer in the long run. If we gave out the cord. to all of the baited spots and honey holes to all users on the internet, they wouldn't be able to even get to there spots probably. Therefore I would like to take back what I said about giving out the cord. to your spots. Sorry everyone. Just had to get something straighted out within myself for my previous post and apolgize to everyone.
Now, go out and fish your spot this weekend and catch you a big one.
