I recently purchased a home on Cedar Creek and the dock is at times completely covered in birds.(cormorants lately)They have been making a mess of the dock and I was wanting some methods of keeping them off. I would appreciate some feedback on what works for you.

If you were to clean it how long would it last?

You also might try placeing a plastic owl there also. You can get you one I think at wally world. I did that around the house one time to keep the birds away from the porch. The owl is a predator to the birds, so they did not come close to the porch. But this was years ago and not on a boat dock.

Enjoy the cormorants and go catfishing under them.

Yea, the plastic owl works for a while til the birds figure out hes not going anywhere. Our Golden Retriever works really well.

Thats it a flock of yowling dogs. I can live with that. My GSP would go freak nutty over that.

K.D. There was some scary stuff on the web site you posted. The flashy bird-eyes would keep me off the dock. I tried tying some cd's over my tomatoes a few years ago for the flash effect but I'm not sure if that worked or not. Thanks for the posts so far.

Go out and enjoy your dock at roosting time. After about 3-4 consecutive days, they will have the habit of going elsewhere.

I have tried everything to keep birds out of aircraft hangars for years. The owls, the snakes, the electronic devices. Nothing works. I suggests a 12 gage shotgun loaded with bird shot. Nothing else works. Everything mentioned may work initially but once they get use to it, it will not work. They don't get use to buckshot.
