Took the wife and kids out to Grapevine today to try and get some catfish for the freezer. Bite was slow, but managed 3 channels, 1 buffalo in the castnet and one gar.

My oldest reeling in one of his three.

My biggest fan.

Three of my four, the youngest boy fell asleep exhausted on the way home, with the days catch.

Had a good time and added a few to the freezer.

We have fished out at Marshall Creek. Second to last spot on the road that goes to the right at the boat ramp. Went out last sunday and caught 6 there. Decent spot especially with kids as there is plenty of room to wander around without them falling in the lake. Only drawback is absolutely no shade.

Take a castnet and you can get plenty of shad. I got lucky and got the bufallo on my second throw of the net so he got used for bait.

Thanks everyone.

At the end of the day, tempers where starting to get short due to the heat and the fact they are not used to going for 10-12 hrs at a time. I try to remember when I take them how it was when my grandfather took me and how I wore on him. Lol, I imagine he would get a chuckle out of seeing me deal with all the "put that down", "stay away from there" and "you just went five minutes ago!"

All in all it was a great time and we are going to go again on friday.
