as far as i can tell woodys in centerville does there own. but with people ordering off the net they may outsource. nevertheless if you go by there check it out.

There is a plac in Post, TX that has jerky like you were talking about. It is called Jackson brothers Meat Locker. You may only get 2-3-4 peices per pound. It is completely covered in black pepper. I have tried a ton of jerkies, and this is the best I have had hands down.

Check the round USDA inspection seal on the package. It's how products are traceable to the producer.
NB Smokehouse uses est 2209 for all their beef & pork products.

Check Buc-ee's too!

If you are ever going between Houston and the valley, stop at Praseks Hillje Smokehouse in Hillje.

They have thick jerky but, I don't think it is as thick as you are speaking of. You'll get about 8-10 pieces to the pound.
