Went to Port A for the annual vacation with the bride last week. Managed to catch about a 20 - 25lb. Jack Crevelle out of the surf. I was using a spinning reel w/12lb. Berkley Big Game and he almost spooled me! The drag was screaming and the reel was red hot. I finally landed it after about 45 minutes and 150 yards from where I started. He bit a spoon made by Spoon'R with a bucktail. The wife just sat on the beach sunning and building sand castles. After that we went out on the Adventurer and I limited out on Red Snapper. We had a big fish pot going and I had it won with a 9lb. Snapper till we stopped to drift for sharks. Wouldn't you know it, some guy lands a 12lb. shark and knocks me out of the running! All in all it was a good trip as usual, just made a little sweeter by landing the Jack. When you land a big fish in the surf, it sure draws a crowd! Enjoy:

Sucks that they let the shark in the jackpot. Most boats I go out on don't allow that. Congrats on the jack!

Yeah, I didn't think this one would either, but they did. If I had won, it would have paid for the wife and myself, since she went as a non-fisher. The king didn't count because the deckhand hooked it and then handed it off.
