Sorry, this post was screwed up by my fat fingers somehow the first time.....
I surfed to find the answer my self, but could not.
I am asking this question from a civil engineering direction, not a fishing one.
The bubbler at Lake Weatherford is in 34 feet of water. Is the outlet for the bubbler at the bottom of the lake? What does it do for the dam? Why is it used? Etc, etc...
I think I have the answer from a fishing perspective.
1. Water flow cools the water in the summer. 2. Water has high oxygen content. 3. Thermocline should have less of an effect around the bubbler.
Thanks, Mike

I've always "assumed" it was to better oxgeniate the water in the lake. I've always wondered why so few lakes have them. I know the one at Grapevine is a good place to catch shad most of the time. I guess the best bet would be contact the COE office and ask them.

The way it was explained to me was on Lake Grapevine it was for water quality at the intakes for the water treatment plant. It keeps the minerals from depositing on the intakes and helps with the treatment of the water. Originally there were 2 bubblers . One close two the control tower the other were it presently is. Used to be alot larger and extend farther out into the lake. Over the years of anchors being caught on the pipe it has been shorten because of breakage. The pump house sits at the southend of the dam. Those pumps are huge. Oh and the benifit is the oxygen it puts in for the shad that draws everything else there.
