The last two weeks have been the best so far this year for me at Cedar Creek. Yesterday I had a trip that resulted in over 50 good crappie caught, with 25 kept (they didn't want any more than that) that the largest 7 going real close to 12#. The bridges are starting to produce some very good fish, but the deepest brushpiles are the real ticket. I used a 2" Rocky Top in white/green or white/yellow (from Finny Tribe), moved dead slow in 18-23' of water to get most fish. Something that you should note; the deeper you fish, the less likely you are to feel a light bite, and believe me, they are biting light. I truly believe that the Stren 4/14 braid that I use, enables me to feel fish that mono 'might' not let me detect. Maybe I'm wrong, but it works for me.

Yep guy, Sten Microfusion is the best. Fire line crystal is OK too but after using awile it looks like it fraying but still holds up. But Stren microfusion seems to wear better. Also these two lines are microfused, kind of water ressistant. this helps line managability. It tends to stick to the rod less. And deep water sensitivity is is greatly enhanced over mono. and that thin of a diameter has no memmory even with a 1/32 jig head.

I use fireline and Suffix performance braid. I think the suffix is the best braid I have fished to date. It doesnt fray like fireline does after it wears down. However, suffix's knots have a tendency to slip if you dont really pull it tight!

Great report Guy! Glad you let me and my "fishing partner" tag along on Saturday. By the way, I fished Sunday and today and I couldn't remember where any of your brush piles were!
NATIONAL OVARIAN CANCER COALITION Team Reeve is fishing to bring awareness to ovarian cancer. This is a silent killer and everyone needs to know that a woman's yearly exam does not diagnose this cancer. If you feel like helping this cause contact me or give to the NOCC/Team Reeve. Also contact me with questions on symptoms!
