Bass Catt then in no particular order Ranger, Triton, Champion. Bass Catt is the original Bass boat builder and probably the toughest built boat. Forrest L Woods and Ranger have been time tested and are probably the 2nd best built boat. I perssonnaly own a Ranger. Its 21ft ride is fantastic for me. Champion and Triton are also a solid boats. Skeeter probably has the most factory defects. If your buying new take a ride in all of them and make the dealer earn your busisness. Ranger is probably the heaviest of all so with comparable engines it's probably the slowest by GPS. Keep in mind of a term called hooking. It seems to happen at to above 70mph. So in my opinion mid sixty's is just fine. Good Luck 1. How many years has BassCat been building boats? Pretty sure Skeeter was the first bassbaot built 60 years ago and I think Ranger has been around 40 years. Both longer than BassCat. 2. Can you provide a link or a reference point that will show Skeeter has the most "defects"? If you read all the brand owner forums on BBC its pretty obvious there are not as many problems as other manufacturers have. Actually it seems another brand you listed gets a lot of negative publicity for issues. You have to take into account that any large boat manufacturer will have more complaints than smaller companies due to sheer volume of units made and sold. Best thing anyone can do is take the time and research all the brands that interest you from as many unbiased sources as possible and buy what fits you and not anyone else. Stats and numbers as well as awards can all be twisted both positively and negatively depending on who's using them. Thanks OK so after doing some internett search's Bass Catt 1971, Ranger 1968 and Skeeter possibly 1948 or 1967. I appologize Im not hear to argue with the like's of Mark. But in my quest for the right boat for me I came across an article that stated Bass Catt was the first Bas boat manufacturer. Though in trying to find the article I was unable to for now. I will continue to look and forward to you when I find it. My opinnion on the factory deffects was formed by local fiberglass repair shops. More than one implied or directly stated that they have seen more factory returns from Skeeter than any other brand of bass boats. Also Im only talking about four makes of boats not absolutly every manufaturer because there are a lot of them.( Look at a NADA Book of boat makers) Quote well said........ Best thing anyone can do is take the time and research all the brands that interest you from as many unbiased sources as possible and buy what fits you and not anyone else. Stats and numbers as well as awards can all be twisted both positively and negatively depending on who's using them. Being a Ranger owner I say Ranger He owns a Skeeter he says Skeeter. Were biased.. Not arguing at all. Sorry if it seemed that way. I usually try to learn a little something in these type discussions so if you had the info I just wanted to take a look. sorry if it seemed I was calling you out. Thanks

I have owned Bass Cats and a Bullet in the past and now own a Ranger 520 VX Commanche. I fished with Stan Browning for a couple of years out of his Skeeter. All are great boats. I have been trying to decide what I want to do now because I was looking into getting into another boat but that has been put to rest by my better half. Out of all of the boats she has ridden in she likes my Ranger I have now because she feels like it is the most stable and safe boat she has been in. She has made the comment that it has more room and storage than any other boat. I love the Bass Cat company and miss my old Cats and know that FunNSun is a great local company but at my house to have my better half feel the way she does about my current boat makes a huge difference. Also even though Tommy Yetts doesn't sell Ranger boats I have been lucky to have him take care of my boat when needed so I still get to deal with Rockwall Marine for my service issues.

I'm done talking about BassCat. The only reason I brought it up was if I knew someone was serious about looking for a new boat, it would be a mistake not to consider other options other than Skeeter and Ranger.
It's like if you really wanted the best purchase of a truck, but you only looked at Fords and GMs. Maybe one of those would be best, but it would be stupid not to look at other good options.

There are a bunch of comments in here comparing the Z21 to the ZX 225. These are 2 completely different boats. If your going to compare apples to apples, you need to compare the Z520 to the 20i. Perry is right, they are both great lines of boats. My suggestion is to go to Fun N Sun, and ask for Jeff or Fain. Jump in all the boats, see which boat fits you better, I mean climb all around in them. When you narrow it down to 2, then take them for a test ride, and find out all the info you can about the 2. Like I said before, you are more than welcome to take a spin in my 20i if thats one of the boats your looking at. Either way, you wont go wrong with Fun N Sun. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

This is about fun n Sun and the poster wants to know about there brands. Sorry to take this in the wrong direction but know out of my top four your looking at two of them. You still need to pick out a motor so good luck in your decission. I know someone related to fun n sun and obvioussly with all the positive's from here and there. Im glad I live near by them. Hope not to use them but it's good to know that there is such loyalty to a shop/dealer. RANGER RANGER RANGER.......mercury Good luck....

I have run them both and when I got into my first Ranger after running Skeeters for a number of years I wished I had made the change sooner. I am currently running a Z520 and it is "hands down" the best boat I've ever owned. There is literally no comparison in the two when it comes to QUALITY, PERFORMANCE and RIDE! Also, all boat companies top of the line boats run $50-$60K. When you are spending that kind of money on anything, you want to make sure you can get the best money back on it when you sell it. Ranger has the highest resale value of any boat on the market.

iv'e owned both. Skeeter is faster and dryer. Ranger has better finish if you like to look at something pretty, they have excellent gel coat. ranger handles better at low speed around docks. But to get up and go its hands down skeeter runs the doors off ranger. Ask those boys prefishing for the tourney at Fork with the 21i why I passed them like they were standing still when they tried to race me...and I had clients in the boat too. HMMM??? They got introduced to the new Z520...

Neither are really fast.
