Does anyone know how accurate the Ray Roberts corps brush pile coordinates are on the Martin's Maps?

Not accurate all. I have yet to find a brush pile where they are given on the GPS. They are close but not right on. One brush pile according to Martins GPS was about two feet off the shore in 2 feet of water. I do like the map though. Its great for finding the under water points.

That's good to hear...I loaded Martin's numbers and couldn't find the BP's either...Is there a more reliable source?...

The issue is the datums are different. The Martin's map uses the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27). Your GPS very likely uses the the World Geodetic System of 1984 (WGS84).

I have about 500 dollars in Electronics on my boat. So to many I am way under technology. but have searched for many corp piles and found most not all. Sometimes takes 30 min to find a new one and for me they are way off..Run depths straigth along contours back and forth until I hit the jack pot starting at about 20 ft deep working to 35. Most of the good corp piles are hit hard and heavy all weekend long just look for the boats on them. I have 6 RR lake maps gotten over the past years since RR opened and they all show different Variations Brush piles I like to go by my 1995 Map.

That was definitely the case today.

We got on the water @6 630 AM, off of it (baked like filets in the oven) @ 230 PM. 4 keepers, 5 or so broken lines, a few sandies, and about 10 throwbacks.

I have never seen RR so busy with boat traffic on ANY weekend over the past 6 years than I saw today. Every brushpile (about the first 10 for sure) had a dang boat on it and that was the first few hours of the morning. Where everyone came from, who knows. The ramps were busy like you'd see at the more inner Metro lakes. It was insane.

There was no wind, which in the morning, was great, but by midday, we had to jump in the water to cool down or just soak our heads and drive the boat a bit. It was fun, but wore us out (both on 4 hours sleep because we couldn't get sleepy until almost midnight).

I entered Martin's brush coordinates for RR in a new Hummingbird 797c2 and some are off more than fifty yards. So much for techonolgy.

Most GPS units should allow you to change the datum settings. Whenever I receive new coordinates I check the datum source. If it is something besides WGA84 or if the format (deg,min,sec or deg,min.min for example)is different, I change my GPS to the appropriate datum and format before entering the coordinates. After entering the coordinates, I change my GPS back to WGA84 and the format I prefer. This gives me the best accuracy and keeps me from converting formats.
