I spooled up a couple of new reels with some new Izorline 20 and 30# green braid. I tied on a Lucky Craft CBD20. After a few backlashes and adjustments, the line would break on the cast. I lost one to the wind and waves. Another to a stump.
A third reel had 50# Izor and had no problems.
I had the impression the kinks from the backlashes were the cause of the line breaking. This is why I don't use fluorocarbon line.
I have been using Power Pro 50#. This happens occasionally too but not on new line that I remember.
My conclusion. Use 50#.

Hank, I have this problem with new braid (power pro is my choice) because the line is so slick when freshly spooled. I cured that by spraying it with Reel Magic as soon as I spool it on and then again before fishing with it. That seems to have cured my major backlash problems. I use all sizes from 20lb to 65lb and it works on all of them.

Did the line really break or did the knot slip? I had the same problem with new braid, especially 50lb and up, because of how slick it is. I cured that by leaving a little more tag end on the palomar knot. Now when it slips during a cast or hookset (cinches down tighter than I can pull) it doesn't pull free.

I have 30# and 50# Power Pro braid on all my reels and have never had any issues.

I've got 50# Power Pro braid on several of my reels and I've not had any problems.

I use the double uni-knot. It never breaks. I picked up 20 yards of line to retrieve the crankbait once.
I'm hoping to hear from some Izorline users too.
I'm not comfortable with spraying anything on the Calais DC's.
I'll ask Paul next time I'm at SW'ern Parts.
It might appear 50# is minimum on the braid. Where which I don't have many problems. I find longer casts produce more fish.

You don't spray it all over the reel, just on the line! hammer hammer

The only time I had a problem like this, I had a bad guide that was cutting my line. It happened irregularly, but frequently enough to be a pain. I finally figured when I was restringing the rod, after thinking the line was bad.

Rod guides OK. Line removed. Next 50# Izor.

Hank,
Sounds like you got a bad batch of line to me. If you want to try another brand give McCoys MEAN GREEN braid a try. Great line and they will take care of you if their is ever an issue. Which I have never had smile KVD's line conditioner is great for braid. I spray the conditioner on Shimano 100mg's with braid and have had no issues from the spray. One last thing to help in making longer casts is use the trolling motor. Make your cast and then use the trolling motor to back-up so you are adding an additonal yardage to your cast.

Good idea in the right position.

Changed line to the #50 and I did not have any more problems.
I'm giving Izor a test. It seems to fade in color slower than Power Pro. I'm afraid to use the 30# spool.

I tried braid once and it sucked and I thought it was just me. But there is a post all the time about braid problems. I solved all of my braid problems by throwing it in the trash and going back to monifilement. Plus I saved a ton of money.

Can't do that Johnny, I worked too long and hard with braid to back to mono. Now I'm trying to decide if Izorline is better than Power Pro. The 30# spool may have been a bad batch. It didn't work with a big deep diving crankbait.

I use the 50# test Izor line on a C-rig as my main line. It has been on the reel for many years now without any problems. I have never tried it in the smaller # test.
