I had a teacher in high school that went up there every year, and then showed us his slide show - - always looks great, but I've never been - - some day. Great fish - - ya gotta love them toothy critters!
Never do card tricks for the group you play poker with.

Although I did not measure that muskie because it was not really that big, I would say it is around 42-43 inches long.
We caught a lot of nice 35-38 inch northern pike like you see in the pictures. Caught a second muskie probably around the same size as the one in the pic. We were there for 6 nights and ate fresh caught walleye 4 of the 6 nights and the only reason we didn't eat walleye every night was because my son wanted something different on two of the nights...he will learn!!!
We caught more walleye than we could use and we also caught several large 3-5 pound smallmouth. Most fish came on a Rapala #9 Silver Minnow, including all of the large ones. Note: big fish will hit small baits at this time of the year. The sheer number of pike we caught on one of the Rapala #9 Silver Minnows tore it up so bad I had to retire it and I now have it's battered remains hanging in my garage as a reminder of a nice Canadian fishing trip. The fishing was so good that I did not have to buy minnows, leeches or worms (for bottom bouncing) once.
It was expensive and a beating to drag my boat all the way up from Plano, but it really does pay to have a well equipped boat when you spend a full week on it. Next year we will fly up as we found a lodge in Nestor Falls that has great rental boats with 50 HP 4 stroke Yamahas, full decked floors, cushioned swivel boat chairs, a bow mounted, foot controlled trolling motor, depth finder and live wells. There aren't many lodges up in Canada that I have seen that have fully outfitted boats like this for the guests. I have been looking for one with great boats for the guests so I would not have to continue to drive up and I finally found one. Next year this lodge will get my business. I highly recommned Lake of the Woods, Sabaskong Bay area out of Nestor Falls, Ontario, Canada. It is a complete fishery and is a Class A muskie, walleye, pike, smallmouth and perch fishery along with the occasional large mouth bass. It is really great to not know what you are going to catch on any individual cast. I have been going up once or twice a year for over 20 years and it is amazingly beautiful, full of wildlife, great fishing and very nice people that are really happy to see you when you come up. Nestor Falls is a drive to destination (about one and a half hours north of the border crossing at International Falls, MN) that has plenty of drive to camps, boat to camps, fly in lodges (there is a fly in service based in Nestor Falls), lodges, hotels (warning - not like city hotels but very nice). Enough of the advertisement.

Absolutely been to Crow (Kakagi Lake). Excellent smallmouth, northern, lake trout, and muskie in that lake with very gin clear water. A really good population of really big muskie. It is very different to see your bait 15 feet down. Obviously, you have been there also?

Quiet about that. LOL I have been going to crow for the last 25 years. I will post a few of the 50's we have pulled from there. When you go back look me up. I will hook you up with some spots to get into giants on crow. My best day out there was a 51,49,47,47.5,42,37 all that in one day.

6 muskie in one day with two at the 50" mark is amazing! I would very much like to see your marked up lake map. I will be out of town at a softball tournament this coming weekend, but may next weekend we can go have lunch or perhaps go up to Ray Roberts or something.
