hoping some of you guys can tell me some good places to canoe and camp on some rivers or lakes in southeast texas.me and the lady love to get away from the maddness of galveston and hit the rivers to canoe and camp. we don't freshwater fish, but will try next time we go, so we are just looking for a nice place to put the canoe in and leave my truck for the weekend. a place where we will not see anyone for the weekend. we hit village creek a few months ago outside lumberton,tx and we put in at village creek state park at about 4 pm. after that,we did not see a soul till the next day. motored the canoe uo the creek about 10 miles into the middle of nowhere and it was so nice. hope someone can give me some good info. making a trip next weekend to somewhere. the closer to galveston the better. i sure am glad my canoe gets such good gas mileage???????? it gets about 15 miles to the gal with the 4hp mercury i use on it. i know this is not the place for this topic, but i though it would get more replys. thanks, kurt
