Friend has an old boat, and it is dark black with red flake in the "clear".

Oxidation is pretty bad all over, what is the best way to get rid of it?

I have a rotary polisher, a random orbital, and a high speed buffer... I just need to know which one to use, and what products to try.

Not all those who wander are lost.

I have used the 3m brand fiberglass cleaner worked well on my old boat and my buddys boat. Don't know about the high speed buffer may burn the finish if you get to carried away. Whatever you used try it in a small spot that nobody can see.

Try wet sanding with about 2000 grit sand paper and the buff with a high speed buffer with 3m polishing compond. Just remember with a high speed buffer you NEED TO KEEP IT MOVING OR YOU WILL BURN THE FINISH.

Try it on a small area first.

Frisco Kid C-man is right wet sand then 3M compound. when compounding wipe on the 3M and buff off when still wet. use a sponge buffer this will help, it will not burn like whool pads do. then polish the Boat using the High speed buffer with another sponge pad. Having different pads helps, trust me on that one. I have done a few boats and it is hard work. But will pay off if done right. Good luck if you need any pointers PM me! FISHMAN

I've used Nu Glass before it works for a while but is very, very time consuming to apply. I Maguire's rubbing compound and after that I have been using Bow to Stern to keep it looking new. BTS is easy to apply and makes the boat look like new. Check out their website:

Good luck
