There is a good place to catch red/trout/drum/flounder/sheephead over buy the Bass company docks in rockport. If you are coming from goose island go threw the business district in rockport and take a left when the road ends. Follow the one way street down till it turns to the right, the last street you come to take a left and follow it till you see an old pier. Its a great place to kayak or wade, I use live shrimp free lined there.

If you have family I would go to Mustang State Park. They have hook ups for your trailer. If you want to rough it you can drive on the beack. Park next to the raw water showers. Makes it nice when your family comes in from the beach. Also one nice thing is that they close the gates at 10:00pm I think. You don't get a lot of crazy people driving at night.
Fishing, you Fish Pass Jetty to the north in walking distance and Packery to the South(drive). You can possible catch Reds,Blacks,Trout,Whinting etc....
I spent the a weekend there last year with my family and sister-in-laws family. Had a great time.

It's all about the family..

There's good fishing at both.....the real question is "How much sand do you want in that camper?" Both places have their good and bad....that may be why my family spent a week at both. Either one you pick, you'll have fun.

Lora and I have camped at both, and enjoy both.

We have camped at Goose Island more, but with the re-opening of Packery Channel and Bob Hall Pier and the Port A jetties all within easy driving distance, our nod goes to Mustang.

There are some really good fish being caught at Packery and they have those jetties set up really well for fishing.

Best of Luck and keep us posted on how you do.
