i was over at the mustang statues in las colinas this weekend and noticed a boat in that pond just north of the statues. the pond/lake borders some off buildings and apartments. i was kind of far away and it was getting dark but it looked like a full size bass boat in there.

are there fish in that pond/lake and is there a boat launch?

Many years ago the public was allowed to fish lake carolyn, the pond you described. But as las colinas started to become the hoyty toyty side of town, the stuck up sky sniffers who dont even know what a fishing pole is decided that seeing people standing at the bank for hours on end was destroying the property values. needless to say, we cant go there anymore. the mandalay canal has some huge ones cruising in there, back in the early 90's we would go and walk around some and throw a line.

God forbid that the common man should be able to access water in the middle of town. I am curious how much if any tax dollars went to making those canals?

I saw someone skiing the canal near the Hidden Ridge road bridge a few years ago.

I fish the pond off Walnut Hill quite a bit and have never had a problem. A few months ago I was taking pictures of herons in the canal just off 114 and Corporate Dr. when the cops pulled up. They said I had to have a permit to take pictures. I did not get a fine but they said it could be $150.

A permit to take pictures?

When did Las Colinas withdraw from the USA?
