 71' Merc 800 tilt (Fluid)

Ok, I'm confused. I need to add some fluid and every thing I've read says to use 20wt motor oil. I'm confused because what is currently in it is much lighter in color than motor oil. I'm not sure what to add because I'm not sure motor oil will mix well with whatever is in it now.

I should add that the res says to use SM grade SAE 20wt oil, whatever that is.

Sounds like it has Lubrimatic, Johnson or other tilt & trim oil. Like what comes in a tube. Motor oil will mix fine it just does`nt have the water protection that the t&t oil has.
