My son,who is now 26 went to work for BNSF railroad about six years ago.He became a conductor fairly quickly, and has been doing that for the last 4 years.

He found out last fall he would be going to Kansas City for Engineer training in February of this year.He spent 3 solid weeks there in the middle of winter, which went well. He's been back here doing some on the job training since then. He had to return to KC about 10 days ago for all the formal testing.had one written test on Monday, simulator test Tues, and Wed,with a major written test this morning. He's been a nervous wreck all week with these high pressure tests.

The railroad is kinda funny with their procedures. If you dont pass the test your basically SOL.cant even go back to your old job.Only option is to pay your way back through Engineer school in order to keep your job.

Luckily he doesnt have to worry about that any longer...Scored a 99 on the final test today, and we have an ENGINEER !!!!

So yall be sure and look twice before crossing the tracks next time !!! thumb

congrats to your son

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

It's cool when somebody actually gets to do what kids want to do when they grow up.

I don't hear many kids say they want to be software engineers when they grow up frown

Congratulations to your son, Roger. If he's on the Sweetwater run, I guess he will be seeing a lot of Slaton. I'll keep an eye out for him.
