I am not trying to call anyone out here I am just curious, why the fish alive rule at weigh in?

Is it just to keep someone from trying to weigh in something caught the day before and kept on ice?

Could be but won't fish keep in an aerated live well with ice for a couple O days too??? It would seem the red and dead method would be as good if the gills are still red.
