Headed that way Monday and Tuesday maily looking for some schooling whites/stripers. Any info leading to a good days catch will land you a case of your favorite beverage! Thanks Trent

Was out there yesterday (Wed. am) and did ok despite the windy conditions. They were schooling south (back towards the dam) of the island. This was the 2nd time I had been to Whitney is the past 2 weeks and both times they were there.

I don't fish whitney much anymore since gas is so high and it is alot further drive but back when I was fishing it alot, the area around the state park almost always held some sandies early and late this time of year. I've also picked up some nice black bass in same area.
During the heat of the day, best bet is to just follow birds or use binocs to glass the main lake and look for them.

Hit the Island early in the morning and in the evening. Work the birds, they will tell you were the fish are. thats all I did and we hooked up on just about every cast... once again.. WORK THE ISLAND...

Whitney is a growing lake again, been there twice in the past month, and both times have done well. Try toewash creek, the Island area, and work the state park. I've done Ok trolling chartruse & white 1 oz. striper jigs 5/6 ft off the bottom, and switching to large 6 to 8 inch. swim baits trolled the same way. Early mornings and late in the evenings are best. The large stripers have been showing up on lowrance late, moving up on top of the creek ridges. Try to locate the shad pods on your depth finder, and good luck, I will be down there saturday...white 24 ft hydra-sport w/ black downriggers, hard to miss me.

It was tough tuesday and wed. The wind wasnt terrible, but made it hard to see the schooling fish. Around the island, all we caught were tiny whites, no stripers. There were a number of boats south of the island around some birds, and another group north of the state park a couple miles. Dont know how they did. Hope everybody did better than us.
