I'm starting to fish Navarro Mills since it is so close to my house. Mostly I've fished for sandbass by trolling sand bars in this lake. I've fished for crappie very little in open water. Most of my crappie fishing has been small ponds fishing from bank. Got a new boat to enjoy & wife is willing to fish late evenings with me or early mornings...
Any suggestions about fishing this lake are welcome...

I grew up on Navarro Mills lake and you are correct it is a hard crappie lake to fish once the spawn is over. My dad still lives down there and he doesnt go out much after the spawn. If you have a good depth finder on your new boat, get the lake map and try to locate the brushpiles in 15-25' of water, they will not be in the creeks now that it is this warm, so you need to look a little deeper right now. Let me know how you do. I would be down there next weekend if gas was not $4/gallon.!!

Slow troll up and down the face of the dam with minnows and jigs. 1/2 ounce sinker on bottom and a lip hooked minnow 2 feet up from it then a jig 2 more feet up. 6-8 inch leaders of course. I try to keep my lures/minnows at least 12 feet down.
