What boat ramp do you like to use?
I'm starting to fish texoma more and so far I have used the Juniper West ramp. It's a OK ramp as long as the wind is not out of the north. Juniper is the closest ramp (I think) coming from F.W. So I was wondering if it was worth the extra 30 - 45 min of trailering time to go to another ramp?

No- We used to launch at Highport but it was about an extra 30-45 min drive and only 10min or so on the water. JP is only $1.50 to launch for me so you really can't beat that.

Hey Holzer -- in the winter time when we are fishing that end of the lake we use Cedar Bayou. This time of year I fish mid-lake so I use Highport, Little Mineral or Light House.
Highport is best ramp with courtesy dock and great parking -- got to be in and out early to miss the party crowd.
Little Mineral ramp SUCKs = high water washed out the blacktop so lot of gravel and sand. The dock is not boat friendly as it has left large gouges in several boats that I know of...including mine. Just pull up on the down wind side.
Light House ramp is narrow, but good, no dock but does have some sandy area to beach the boat - after you miss the rocks. Parking is good but a little walk.
See ya on the water...

I usually use Juniper, but I usually camp when I go. I am trying to find a reasonably priced campground somwhere more to the east though. I seem to fish more to the east and when I camp at Juniper I really go through the gas getting to the fishing grounds.

Holz,You might look @ Cedar Mills as a possible launch. It's right off 377 before you get to Juniper. It's got good water break, nice fish cleaning station, and may be just a tad closer to the main lake than Juniper. Doesn't matter anyway with the fuel economy you get outta your boat right!!!! I'm goin' up friday evening, give me a shout...

Thanks all for the input. I'm going try that Cedar Mills ramp out. I've been to Highport a couple times and it is a nice ramp. But by water, from 377 to the lisland it's like a 5 - 7 min trot. Just doesn't make it worth spending another 30 - 45 min on the road to use a ramp that I can be at in 7 min traveling by water.
CCstriper, Good hearing from ya. I can't make it to the lake until Monday. Let me know how you do.

I use Cedar Mills alot but it can be challenging to launch. The top of the ramp is at the top of a slope so as you are backing to the ramp you can hardly see it (the ramp) (in my vehicle anyway) then the curve ball, the ramp is going in a different direction than the road leading to it. However, the dock is nice and it has a cleaning station too. I've caught alot of shad there as well. Juniper Point is a better ramp in my opinion but is much further west than Cedar Mills.

We'll be using Eisenhower tomorrow.
But usually, I hit JP for convenience. I have used Cedar Mills as well...didn't have any issues. Good restaurant there too.

Cainey creek is a good ramp with a nice campground, also a free ramp if you are just taking your boat.
