The lake is very clear and with tremendous drops in water depth. We use to fish the points and any flooded cover, stick ups. Topwaters early Spooks, bass will come from no where to hit them. Try later Shakey heads, drop shots and finesse jigs to coax some good fish. There are all three species there. LMB, SMB, & KSB. LMB and KSB are the most populated.

And, yes there is some excellent trout fishing in Taneycomo Lake. It is a big slow moving river that you can put a bass boat on and run and catch lots and huge trout. Let me know how you do. We are going in the middle of July. It is Hot and Humid, with little wind at times.

I went there a couple of years ago. I didn't want to take my boat, so I rented one. I didn't have a clue how to fish that deep clear water so I found some some water that looked like home and caught a few LMB. I found pockets with brush and threw a Texas rigged baby brush hog. I also came across, what I can only describe as Gar schooling and caught 3 of them in the 3 to 4 foot range on a crankbait, that was interesting.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Fished with a young guide who really worked hard and did a good job for me. Water is about 15 feet high due to March/April rains. The vegetation at the edge of the water is full grown trees with water 15-20 feet deep. Crazy stuff. We fished about 8 or nine different points within a 5 or 10 minute ride of Big Cedar Lodge. Got about 11 or 12 bites from 6:30-3. Fished C-rigs 3/4-1 oz w/ lizards, football hd jigs and tubes with the football hd rigs stuffed inside. Fun day. I've never fished a lake like T'rock before so it was all new.

One of the better places to fish in SW Missouri is the upper end of Bull Shoals. It is in Missouri. If the water is high as stated. There will be some good flooded brush in this area. It reminds me more of home fishig, but on a river setup.

Many people don't know it but, Taneycomo has some good bass fishing on it. Down at the far end by the constant flow dam there is alot of flooded willows. Any creek along the Branson/Hollister area will hold bass. Escpecially when they are generating lots of water. This will push the bass all the way back into the back of the creeks looking for the warmest water they can find. Small worms and cranks(crawfish pattern). Shakey heads, drop shots.
