there are no blues in this lake. Makes sense. The world record channel is about 58 pounds and was caught in 1964 in the Santee Cooper reservoir system (Lake Marion), just before blue catfish were introduced there. Now channels don't grow nearly as big. I wonder if there are many other lakes with channels but without blues. Farm ponds maybe, but I'll bet not many big lakes. Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, that is a nice Channel Cat!!! And that boy's smile is nearly as long as his fish!!! My Dad & I used to fish Spavinaw when I was a kid, but neither of us ever caught anything to compare with that. Tell your boy:

How long ago did you fish Spavinaw? I think it was built in the 1920's and is Oklahomas oldet reservior. Lots of history there as a water supply lake for Tulsa. Its wild, Tulsa pumps the water from Spavinaw to a large holding lake called Lake Wahola in north Tulsa. Pretty cool how it all works.
