This weekend, ill be going to Port Aransas. This will be my first time ever saltwater fishing. We will be going on an 8 hour charter and then fish the pier and jetty's afterwards. Tips would be appreciated on the charter and inshore. Thanks!

Lee

Are you going out on a party boat or a private charter?

Most of the party boats will have everything you need on board like food, drinks, poles and bait but you may call them and ask if there is anything you need to bring. Just eat non-greasy food and drink plenty of water. Just remember not to judge the trip by the amount of fish you catch but by the fum the learnig you are doing and having.

I plan to fish the piers and shores after the boat trip. Any different than fishing freshwater as far as rigs and tactics?

I'm going on my annual trip next weekend. Can't wait. We charter a boat from Deep Sea Headquarters. There is usually 12 of us that go. Dynomite people, and we always limit out on everything we go fishing for.

anyone have any reports of the snapper bite lately.? how have the seas been?

LeePhan remember if you are going to take dramamine, start taking it at least 24-48 hours BEFORE you go out on the boat.

I was at the Deep Sea headquaters as well on an 8 hour trip from 7:30am-3:30pm with Captin Kelly's. Boat had about 30-40 people aboard, it was crowded. We all limited on snappers. I hooked onto a 35#-40# Cobia and it was the biggest fight I ever had in my life. Took me 15 minutes to reel it in and dragged me front to back of the boat. Arm was burning and I almost gave up, but evenually got him close to the boat. The crew gaffed it and as they pulled it right at the edge of the boat, the Cobia came off and I was devistated. I caught the biggest fish on that boat.

that is the same place. they will always put you on fish. I'll be fishing Fri & Sat. I'll let you know how we do. We usually only have 10-15 on our boat.

We went out Monday with the Fisherman's Wharf and my eight year old caught a 46" King Mackerel. Talk about a child (and dad) that is still on cloud nine.
