Hello mates.

I'm new to TFF and new to hybrid fishing. I've had decent luck on lake Proctor but need to fish closer for sandies and hybrids. I thought I would try lake Bridgeport. Big Lake..and I could use some help to fish for these hybrids. Just want to keep the wife happy by bringing in the bacon periodically.

Cheers.

Welcome shipsmate! I love fishing bridgeport. I put in at Chico state park and work the river. There is good fishing in the main lake too, but it can get pretty rough sometimes. There are a lot of very nice hybrids there, you just have to find them.

You can find a good number of sandies at Lake Weatherford. I have not fished for them in awhile, but I plan to start fishing for them at night this coming weekend.

Bridgeport is a great looking lake. The scenery alone is worth the trip. You will be amazed how clear the water is on the south end.

Mike

Welcome to the forum

This may not be much help, but I have been out there a few times and we did well on the west side of the island and in the area between the island and a facility that is in the middle of the main body of the lake. Also we ventured to the west end of the main lake and found a series of humps that held fish. We got distracted and went up the river until we realized we may not have enough fuel to get back

I am sorry if I have not been much help but what little we did did work. As soon as these winds bed down I am heading out there some more and maybe we will have our TXSBHA Championship tourney there.

May I also suggest Ray Bob and EM, I also heard recently that the sandies on PK are going at full tilt.

I'm not a tournament guy - but have caught a bunch of fish on Bridgeport.

First get yourself a Bridgeport Map. You will see the main lake with a channel on the north end running east/west which takes you into the river area. The area at the west end of the channel is called 3 fingers. Go right to Wise County Park - excellent boat ramps. Go left and head up river. Go straight west into the large slew and you will find north side marina (no ramp but they do sell minnows and cold drinks).

Get your fishfinder working and work both sides of the channel to the main lake. Troll or slab..... Here's where you got to be careful - when you exit the channel into the main lake look for several bouys - they are marking a rather large rock hump! If the lake is down you can go from 20+ feet to "lower unit" real fast. Work around this rock pile - lots of fish caught here. Usually you will see several boats working this area. There are several sand flats and humps/islands in the main lake and they are usually productive. As usual "watch the birds". I've had a good time and never got out of the three fingers area when the sand bass are schooling. Work the causeway on the south end of the lake and on the map you will see an island out past the end. There is an old roadbed that went to that island with dropoffs on both sides. Every now and then we get lucky around that roadbed. If your on the south end, north of the 380 bridge and want to stretch your legs there is a channel leading into a marina area with a boat ramp, gas dock, and a short walk to a convenience store.

Good Luck

The bubble up at Weatherford should be loaded up by now.

I have'nt been on bridgeport any this year, but i usually fish it often. Where is the bubble at weatherford? Used to years ago they had a big bubble in front of the dam. Is this same thing? Hopefully if the wind stops blowing I can get up there next week.
