Just to clarify on rod length limits on 91st st pier. It used to be 14ft last year but they changed it to 12ft this year.
Idiots kept coming out and busting out the pier lights with their big rigs. Costs them $70 per light.
I take my 12 footer there all the time but never tried to get anything bigger in there. Not sure how strict they are.

6/09/08 Ray at the Galveston Fishing Pier reports water is sandy green . The winds still blowing but not as bad. Catches are : jacks , gaftttops , whiting , sharks ,sandtrout, and stingray . Hopefully these winds will lay down so the specks and macs, will move in . The speck and mac tourneys may actual get some fish wieghed in soon .

The water is sandy green thursday 6/12/08 winds around 15 mph . Ray on the Galveston Fishing Pier reports fishing is slow slow . The weekend outlook is not to promising . 15-20 mph winds with 50 % chance of rain . Guess me and wife will go to a movie. The ( Shudder) seaweed will be coming in soon and that will end beachfront fishing for me till around August . Can not stand to fish in that [censored]. Most likely be fishing at 18 th street pier in san leon .

How have the skeeters been down there? I would assume with the lack of rain they're not too bad. If we get rain this weekend then watch out!!!

we went down to galveston on 5/13 and at first all we were catching was sand trout but then we started nailing the spec's. all in all we had 10 keeper's and threw more then that back. the water was murky, there was about a 4 foot surf but still turned out to be great fishing...

Three more weeks and I will be heading for the coast, been watching the weather and am starting to worry that the rain from up north may start working it's way down this way and ruin a perfectly good summer again like last year.
Trying to keep my options open as to where along the coast I go, especially with the price of gas these days. Galveston is first choice, Rockport/Port A are second and if push comes to shove I'll bite the bullet and head south to South Padre.
What do y'all think, is Galveston/Rockport expected to clear of the winds and rain by 4th of July?

Ray reports green water around t head , catches of whiting , shark , gafttop , and sandtrout . If the winds =do not mess up the water should see trout by Friday . The really amazing thing is ALMOST NO SEAWEED( prob jinked us now) .Last year at this time you needed a crane to winch your line in from all the seaweed.
