Launched from Arrowhead about 6am with a bunch of shad. We tried fishin over near the dam (west end) and caught a good channel cat immediately (we being a 4 year old gal named Maddy with her Barbie pole). We caught one or two more, but it was slow going. We decided to try over on the windy side. It was plenty windy. The trip back was brutal. I'm getting pretty tired of this darned wind!!
Maddy had a good time, and was kind enough to instruct the rest of us in the "how-to's" of catfishin.

Do not fear,Oh so soon the wind will subside and we can enjoy the opressive heat of summer.Glad that you and the 4 year old got a chance to get out.Windy or not you got some quality time.

I went out in my kayak this morning over by the dam near Lake Park. Fished with fresh cut shad and as long as you only fished about 2 ft under a bobber and within 5 ft or less of the rocks, the fish were hitting. I did almost catch my first flathead which was probably about 3 lbs. I was pumped when I saw it, and super pissed when it got loose. I only got to fish a couple hours and I left them biting. The wind was a pain because it was swirling from different directions over the dam, which can really jack you up in a kayak with a few lines out. The thing that really messed me up today was those dang green lipped trash fish! I caught a 20" green trash on R&R and I caught another small one on one of my juglines! I almost cut the small one up for bait just to let out some frustration. I got a fish fry at my house tomorrow and one of my buddies is a green lip trash chaser. I kept the 20in and I'm going to hold a little blind taste test tomorrow. Sure do wish I had that flathead to cook up!

come to think of it, the cats we did catch were right up shallow. glad to hear you got a couple of those green crappie out of the lake. I filleted two of them myself. Frankly, I've always thought black bass was really good eating....
