I've been following this forum for quite some time and not seen to much advice on Gibbons for catfish. I saw a post in the past that some guys were going below the damn, but that was a few months back. Once I get my boat situation in order I'll be heading there since I work in Bryan, but I have never fished there myself. One suggestion is to get near the discharge water since that is where I've had the most luck on power plant lakes.

Sorry, been out of commission lately. Fished 5/31, while cleaning 50 catfish under a tree in the parking lot, a spider dropped down and bit me on the neck, I guess, never saw or felt it, just started scratching on way home, then swelled all night...from ear to ear on back of neck and skull to neck bone, had it lanced Thursday...deep bad abccess...do not clean fish under low hanging Live Oak trees...
Catfish were in 2-4 water, caught on punch bait, fishing 30 minutes behind tossing out range cubes. I will be back out after another week of recovery. good luck

Yea fish shallow right now. Ive been fishing the lake for years and right now with the shad spawning the cats will be feeding close to the banks dont go towards the hot water discharge too hot right now try the cool water intake or areas around trees in 2 to 8 foot of water use stink bait or live shad ...also drift fishing will be good right now just remmber the slower the better! hey obiewan hope ur neck gets better imma try to get a trip with soon on somerville for cats...dont know the lake too well also do u know anyone that works on boat motors at a reasonable price gotta get my powerhead rebuilt?

Things are high everywhere, but for my money, honesty is worth a lot, and the boat repair place I find really honest in their work and their fees is located in Brenham. Darrell Schmidt Boat repair, all mine go there.
Take 36 off the loop, pass in front of Super walmart, about 2 miles, right across the railroad track. He is a certified repair man for several brands. 979-836-3033

Hey Ant, been fishing any? It's just too dang hot to enjoy myself so I have been doing honey do's/yard work. It stinks but I am getting pumped for my 3 days of offshore/inshore fishing in exactly 11 days!!! Maybe we can run out to Gibbons(aka the hot tub) this summer and try to get on some crappie and channels. Over by the dam for sure to get away from the heat!

Ant it sounds like you have the "Broke my new boat" syndrome! I am busy for the next few weeks but i'll take you for free after that. go with Mr. Weldon and figure it out and then we'll go !!! I ain't so sure with this wind, hopefully it will die down or we'll be going in wet suits and have extra bildge pumps going!!!
