Who knows how to fish Moses Lake? I am going this weekend and the reports I see say that the reds and black drum are good. I very rarely catch anything in Moses lake but it is near my house and would like to learn how to fish it.

Thanks,

Only time I ever caught anything in there was about 9 years ago and we caught a bunch of spanish maks and 2 flounder. I have been in and out of the area and see a bunch of fish on the sonar but did not fish it.

LWL,

I have fished there quite a few times...the trick to the lake is starting in east bay at the mouth of the channel that feeds the lake...The water is VERY shallow on the north shore of east bay so be sure to fish a good size tide...dont mess with the lower tides of the month...ANyway..sit in or near the mouth of the channel until you start getting bit..as the bite slows start back into the chanel..you will literally be following the fish into the lake on a rising tide...it will be stop and go..stop and go all the way into the lake...Once you reach the lake we have always had more luck running the shore line on the left..or West side..I think probally because of all the little marsh drains..and there seems to be more grass patches....Just be sure to head out in time when the tide falls or you're gonna be sitting in the lake a lot longer than you wanted to. HAHA..Anyways, Tight Lines.

Thanks for the tips. I don't think I will doing much fishing anywhere if this wind does not stop. I have a house on the water and can see Moses lake from my deck. I grew up fishing the jetties and need to figure out how to fish around my house. I know there are alot of good fishing spots near me I just need to figure them out. Any other tip for Moses lake or surrounding area would be great.

If you want reds and black drum, hit the deep hole off the southwest shoreline. Can't miss it and if you have a graph or fish finder, you find it once it drops off. You can do the same with a heavy sinker or with your anchor rope. They're usually always in there.
