Got to assume that this "hole" at EF is not below one of the spillways.

Does this mean it is not near a freeway type road? If it were, it would be within eyesight of tens of thousands every day.

Just fishin for more clues.

Between two MAJOR thoroughfares, and within eyesight of literally thousands daily, visible from two major arteries that feed the thoroughfares.

Course it is better to be watching for tailights to be turning red than looking down the river, just for safety anyway.

Another good resource for locating new fishing holes is google earth....satellite images. Also great for finding back roads and shortcuts for your typical driving routes to/from work, etc...

There is a very good spot between Royal & 635 the river opens up into a small pond/lake hard to get to if the maintenance crews arent mowing regularly.

That spot is VERY GOOD this time of year for channel and blue catfish. A nice bonus in this spot is that in the summer, early morning, sometimes huge schools of big sandbass herd shad to the shore and attack! Rooster tail and ratttle traps are deadly when this happens. In the fall, big bass and hybrids feed here. In the late winter early spring, the crappie bunch up along the rocks behind the Haggar bldg. Carp, buffalo, drum and gar are here year round.

I was at that spillway this evening - caught nothing but sticks and grass. A guy fished the other side for a bit. He caught a few dinky bream on what I guess was worms.

Yep. since the water has gone down, it has slowed to a crawl, although a few days ago, I did catch some nice kentuckies and blacks, and several small crappie, and if memory serves 2 sandies in the 14-15 inch range. I released em all back into the river. They are still there, but a bit smarter now.

I heard a big front with LOTS of rain is coming in the next couple days. JUST WHAT THE FISHING GODS OF THE EF ORDERED! When that water comes thundering over that spillway, the difference between what the fishing is now, and what it will be when that flow starts, is something to behold!

Patience, grasshopper. It the weather dudes are right(highly doubtful),IT WILL BE ON AGAIN!!!!

Very soon!
