The Palomar is my go to knot but my back up is the improved clinch.

That is a cool site. I used it a while back to learn the figure eight.
I use the palomar for hooks.

I have recently switched to the snell knot also. Quick, easy, and strong...

For me it depends on the line, I use the improved cinch knot for lighter lines and the polymar for the heavier lines.

Thanks for posting the link to the web site. That is a nice one. I personally use the Trilene knot. Somehow the double pass through the eye "feels" stronger. My gut tells me that it should disperse the force between the line and the hook over a wider area and hence reduce breakage.

Let me tell you a story about knot tying! Me and old Eddy Hankins took off for Lake Texoma during a big storm in the spring of 1988. Both of us know how to tie knots of all kinds; Improved clinch, Palomar, Trilene, Fishermans, snell, etc. We had seined an ice chest full of big ghost minnows during the rain storm and rigged up to fish. The water was roiled and muddy for about 40 feet out and then clear as a crystal. We cast just beyond the muddy into the clear water. Fish on! Every cast got us a big bass, carp, catfish, sandbass, striper, or drum! We couldn't miss. Then it got better and bigger because we were breaking off every other fish or so! Big fish were hitting. Eddy managed an 18 pound blue out of several breaks, I got one HUGE drum into the shallows before breaking off. The point of my story is buck fever! I was retying with "granny knots"! My mind would not work to tie anything but a granny knot! I found out later that Eddy was doing the same thing. We must have had 40 fish flopping on the bank with probably that many getting back in the lake in the space of 45 minutes or so. I don't know how many times we broke off with big fish but our sinker supply was almost gone when we later got our wits about us. And then it was over. Sun came out, wind quit blowing and the bite came to a halt. We still laugh about those granny knots we tied during all the excitement! I am sure the granny knots contributed to a number of the breaks!
****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .
