I went out for some cat fishing with P220 and Skeeterbite and P220 caught a buffalo while we were picking up shad. I was about to put it back in the water and I was instructed to let it be as it was going to be used as bait.

I was a bit skittish but I had heard buffalo was A+ kitty bait. Well, I bled it out and filleted the buffalo and cut the fillets into cubes and folks all I can say is we could not keep the kitties off the buffalo cubes. P220 used Danny King's but I and Skeeterbite used buffalo and I tore them up on it and most were 2-3 pound cats.

I had heard a lot of stories but I must agree they buff's are a premium catfish bait.

Tell me about it every fly and cat in the hood is hovering over the boat.

I bled it so I would not get it on the boat.

Smallmouth buffalo. They're a Texas native that look like a gray carp, but they are actually members of the sucker family, not the minnow family like carp.

Both cast net and on a rod and reel baited with corn carolina style with a small hook like a #1 or 2

I wonder, though, seriously, if buffalo and carp parts or cut sunfish could be considered "fish filets" by the authorities?......I have worried about this off and on for years.

If anyone in the San Marcos are wants some buffalo for bait, just let me know. We went bowfishing on Lake Wood last night and I have 5 or 6 goods ones in the freezer awaiting anyone who wnats them. I am not a catfisher but I will not just waste the fish so I froze them to give away.
