you need to make a resume and send it out, but you need to make sure you are interested in the company and you feel you can help the company, because the more you help them the more they help you

Having won a tournament or two would help tremendously. Good luck!

The one thing I have found helps TREMENDOUSLY is a good resume. If you are really looking to do this send me a PM and I will get you hooked up with Bob at Sponsorship Resume Service. Mine is on my website under the resume tab. Give it a look and send me a PM.

With the slump in the economy, getting sponsors is getting tougher and tougher. A resume' is a must, but it better be a good one with lots of major tourney wins, not the bass club kind. A number of wins with a circuit like Bass Champs will carry you quite a ways. They look for someone who is willing to invest time, money and heart into the sport. That person also has to be a great Ambassador and good with the public. Willing to spend your own time supporting shows on their behalf, be willing to dedicate your time taking interested folks riding in your team sponsored boat (you still buy just at wholesale prices and they sell it for you every 2 or 3 years). There are still a lot of big league pros that do not have a full sponsorship yet, so they fund the tournaments partly out of their own pockets. When Mark Perry gets back from the mod get together this weekend, send him a PM and he can tell you a few more folks to talk to that are trying that path right now. Bottom line is that you had better be able to produce also!

Yes, as some have said, it helps if you have won or placed in tournaments. But, the key thing is what you can do for the company. They are interested in sales. Presenting yourself. Willing to travel and work tackle shows for them, and being able to sell their product, which YOU have to believe in. A good resume does help tremendously. Check out Bass resource. One of the biggest thing that can help is getting some type of boat sponsorship. This is a major step in other companies believing in you. http://www.bassresource.com/search/search.php

Number 1 is having a good resume and letting sponsors know what you can do for them. Never get the attitude of what can they give you. If you shouw you will bust your butt for them they will like that. a friend of mine, mike yeagley have a good resume on his website http://www.MikeYeagley.com look under the sponsors tab. use that as a guide to make your own. Also having a website can be a plus just an fyi for the future.
