I was just wondering about getting the gate code for Joe Pool state park. I never realized that fishermen could get the code until just reading the Tawakoni SP rant. Man I would love to get on the lake at 4 or 5 am during the summer months. Does anyone know if Joe Pool SP staff will give out the code? I was told a while back before that the code was given to campers, and never thought of asking about pass holding fishermen.

Never been to Joe Pool yet, so I have no idea. Surely somebody on here knows.

I was told that you could not get it beacuse your pass is only good from 6am - 10pm. I have seen it done once but only because we were having a tournament out there.
Good Luck getting it! They are very tight about their codes.

When I lived in Duncanville I never had any problem getting the code. I would just run in the office, show my pass and get the code. At that time the code was the same for a week at a time. I was a regular and got to know all the staff so maybe I received special treatment?

Good Luck getting it! They are very tight about their codes. I know last year the gate would open at 5 am for a while. So I started going in, but even then the GW would come up to me and ask me what was going on, since I was not suppose to be there till after 6 am. Needless to say, it did not last. Wonder why they will give out the code at other parks, but not this one? That stinks!

I'm thinking the code is for campers only. I know that technically we're supposed to be out of there by 10, however, I dont think they enforce that as I've been later than 10 getting out of there MANY times. I will say that I've been given the code over the years a couple of times also.

All I can say is, just go the night before, be friendly, and ask what happens if you forget the time and stay a bit longer than 10...usually, you will receive access to the code and you'll be able to get in the water early. If you really wanted to get on the water early, there are a few 24 hr. launch areas on the lake, so really, the state park is only one avenue for your mission to hit the lake early.

The other launches are just too far. The SP is only 10 minutes from my house, so anything else seems to be a million miles away, plus I am cheap as heck.

Really??? How silly of me then!!!
But did you ever think there was the possibility that the code that you use to open the gate to get out would be the same code you could use to get in???
Weird...Seems like the combination I use to get my lock open is also the same combination as the one I don't use to lock it up!!!

DJ - there is no code needed to get out, just drive up to the gate and it opens.
