I posted this in the crappie section but perhaps here is where it belongs.
Ok, so I went 15 minutes out of my way on the way home to Academy and bought one of the night blaster lights. Upon arriving home I plugged hooked it up and nothing, only response at all is the wires got hot. Am I missing something or is it just defective? Also there was a small zip lock plastic bag inside with what looks like silicone, is that what it is or what is it? I was able to get it to work for a few seconds by tapping on the side. I am wondering now if I should return it for another one or get the florescent one they had. Any opinions?

I am not sure if I want that one or not if they are not dependable. I may get the florescent one but need advice on which one is better.
