Obviously I have a Texas fishing license... but my question is ... "Do I need to carry it with me when I go fishing?".

When I buy my license, I supply my drivers license number. I am wondering if I were to be checked by the warden would I be ok just to show my drivers license or do I need to have the physical piece of paper associated with the license with me?

If you don't have it on your person you will recieve a citation.

You are required to carry your fishing license with you when you are fishing as well as your drivers license or personal identification as provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

i would rather be caught driving withour my drivers licsense in my possession than caught fishing without a license

Yes you have to have your drivers license when you drive and you have to have both license when you fish.

If you get a ticket for no license it is easy to take care of. Simple supply a copy of your license and ticket to the appropiate parties and it should be dismissed with NO fine. I have had seveal folks over the past couple of years both fishing and hunting that this has happened to. Same goes for nor having youe hunter safety card with you, if required to.

I make a photo copy of my license and "blue card" registration certificate for my boat and keep it in my tackle box in case I forget mine. I've shown it to several wardens and all of them said that was all I needed. No driver's license, just fishing lic and boat card.

Personal Identification: While hunting, fishing or trapping, persons 17 years of age or older must carry on their person a driver's license or personal identification certificate issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Non-residents must carry similar documents issued by the agency in their state or country of residence that is authorized to issue driver's licenses or personal identification certificates.

If you own a boat,you are also required to have your registration card with you.

You will get a citation and you may beat it in court. But, you will have to go through the process. Time is money.
