I am going to purchase my first spool of Fluorocarbon line and would like to get everyones input on what line they consider to be the best and brands to avoid. I am going to spool it on my baitcaster for worming and spinnerbaits and crankbaits. I was thinking of buying 12lb but would like some suggestions. Thanks for any input.

I would stick with PLINE or Berkley 100% flourocarbon...I would go with at least 12 lb. test depending on water clarity and stucture you are fishing, and you may want to step up to 14lb. or so...Bring your wallet though...These will run @ least $20...

I haven't tried them all yet, but so far I like the Seaguar InvizX the best. I would use 15 lb. for worming and spinnerbaits and 10 or 12 lb. for crankbaits.

Seagar, P-Line, and Vicious in that order.

You get what you pay for in most cases. BPS is a few cents cheaper by the yard than Seaguar and Trilene. IMO i think the 3 lines are very similar. Seaguar and Trilene are more supple (easier handling) than BPS but as far as strenght, abrasion restistance they are about equal IMO. I use BPS personaly. Toray and Sunline are kind of the high end fluoros out there (by price that is) I have not tried Toray but Seaguar, Trilene are just as good as Sunline IMO and quite a bit less expensive.
Trilene is comming out with yet another fluorocarbon line in a few months, its supost to be even better than the 100% line, which means is will have the price tag of the Sunline and Toray if I was guessing.
Vicious is a good option for the money. Its a stiff fluoro, and dosent spool very well but for .02 cents a yard you dont have much room to gripe about it. I have started using it for practice line and its a good option for that.

Vicious works for me. You don't always get what you pay for, sometimes you get good quality for a good price. IMHO Vicious does that.

I use 17lb. XPS personally and like it. I have tried 12lb and 14lb and had a lot of trouble on hooksets. 17lb seems to be working good but I wouldn't use it for crank baits, not enough stretch

I used BPS XPS before I went to Vicious, both are good lines for the money. Vicious is a little less $/yd and I can get it locally without paying shipping.

Second 17 # BPS for flukes, spinnerbaits, football jigs. I use twelve for hard jerbaits and drop shot on baitcaster.

Vicious is great for the price but like stephen said it is stiff and can be hard to manage in the larger test. Seagar is the best I've used but it can get expensive if you have alot of combos and respool often.

Gamma Edge is the best fluro I've fished, bar none. Pricey but worth it. The BPS fluro is junk in my opinion.....I'd use it for a trip or two and it was done. Worked great when new, but not very durable for a couple trips usage. The Gamma is as tough after 10 trips as it is when it's new. The Cabela's brand fluro is made by Segar and workd quite a bit better for me than the BPS. My 2 cent...gary

I hate Berkley Vanish. I liked the Berkley Transition. I have not tried another fluorocarbon yet. I especially like to use this type of line as a leader. I strip my line too much to use only fluorocarbon line. It would be too expensive for me.

Check out Tackletour.com's Fluoro review parts 1 and 2 for some great information. Many of the lines mentioned above are covered. Also, I've used many of the lines mentioned above and I haven't found enough difference between some of the lower cost lines like BPS Fluoro and Cabela's No Vis (made by Seaguar) and the higher end lines like Gamma and INVIZX to justify the cost. Some of the cheaper lines are stiffer, but there's not enough difference for me to justify the cost. I've got some Vicious on order and look forward to trying it out.
I'd recommend trying filler spools of a few different brands until you find line you're happy with.
MYTH - Fluoro doesn't stretch enough to throw crankbaits. Check out the Tackle Tour review and you'll see the average stretch for fluoros was almost equal to big game. Some stretched more and some less. Even the least stretchy fluoro line had over 6% stretch compared to over 9% for Big Game.

I'll add to the PLine and Berkley 100%. Both have been tough lines for me. One of my fishing partners likes the PLine Halo.
Just make sure NOT to use Vanish!!!

Vanish soured me on flouro. Used it a couple of times and hated it. Haven't used flouro since.

I've tried several different fluorocarbon lines.
For baitcasting gear here's my top three.
Sunline Shooter
Sunline Sniper
InvizX
For spinning here's my top two.
Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon
Sunline Sniper.
I've not been happy with any of the other fluorocarbon lines on spinning gear.

I've used the Vicious for a while now and it works great. It's a little stiffer than some of the most expensive lines, but not enough to bother me.
BTW - If you're going to use fluoro in a spinning reel, get the softest line out there or you'll hate it. I know the InvizX is very soft.

I just don't understand why anyone would put up with the stiffness and managability problems with spooling the whole reel with flouro.
If you want strength and no stretch, why not spool with braid and add a flouro leader?

You know.... I bought some Seguar Invisix in 15 and 20. I got a couple of prof. overruns but nothing serious. Then I put on a 1 oz. swim bait ($35) and gave it a fling and watched it fly beautifully with the wind about 60 yds. with 30 yds. of line. That swim bait had never been used. 1 cast and gone. This was brand new line on the first day of my very first trip to Amistad. I ran it 2 days and am still not happy with floro. Think I am going to braid with floro leader. I use it on the coast with no issues.

Seaguar Invizix, the only flouro I will ever throw again! BPS broke off many time even with a fresh spool on. You get what you pay for and Seaguar is worth it.

If you want strength and no stretch, why not spool with braid and add a flouro leader? For one thing fewer knots, thus fewer weak points in the rod&reel, line, lure chain. TFP
