My registration sticker expires at the end of this month. I have not received the usual renewal notice from TPWD. I called yesterday to ask why and was told that many people this year have not received renewal notices. The lady said I could write them a letter and send my $50 or alternatively, if I wait to get the renewal notice, I may not get one and would be operating my boat in violation of the law after 4/30/06. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone think I should just sent TPWD a check for $50 and hope I get the sticker?

If it were me, I'd go to the closest TPWD office and take care of it in person.

not sure which office is closer to you.

I called the TPWD office in Ft. Worth that Kingfisher listed and they said I could come over there and get the sticker and pay by money order or check or I could print the PWD143M form from the TPWD site and mail it to Austin with a check or money order. It just irks me that I have to do anything besides mailing their renewal form with my check. mad When Dallas County wants money from me for vehicle/trailer registration, they send a form so that I do not have to call anyone or drive anywhere and they send it in plenty of time to get my stickers and get them on the vehicles.

Sorry you are having all that trouble. I just received my renewal notice a few days ago.

I never recieved my notice and it expires at the end of this month. I'll probably just mail it in. It would cost me too much to drive to one of the offices and back to the house.

CJ, my brother in law had that same problem, he never recieved anything from TPWD. I recently bought his boat from him and was looking at his old certificate of number and noticed they had his old zip code wrong. You might check with them and make sure they have your mailing address correct.

Thanks Kingfisher, I talked to the Ft. Worth office yesterday. They checked and they have the address and everything right. I've owned this boat for 13 years and have lived at the same address for 35 years, so it's a mystery to me why all of a sudden I wouldn't get the notice from them. But, who knows, with the budgetary problems TPWD has maybe they have hired some not too capable office help that transposed numbers of something ?? The lady I talked with in Austin seemed not to care much whether I got my sticker or not--had no answers--said I wasn't the only one not to get it--was unable to check or verify anything--but I could write them a letter and send $50 and they would send it. With that attitude, I guess I'll be driving to Ft. Worth to personally take care of it.
Thanks again for the adresses and phone #s.

Here is what I am going thru right now folks....
I got my notice back in Jan. of this year, had my wife write out the check the same day that we got it. I mailed it off the 14th and waited and waited. So now I called them 2 weeks ago and they tell me they had a "glitch". Any processed on the 21st of Jan. didn't get mailed out.
Well, ain't that nice of them to let all of us who got processed on the 21st know what happened ?
They tell me that it will get "reprocessed" and it should be in my mail-box that Fri.
Nothing was there Fri. or Sat. or Mon.
Tues. morning I call again .
I get some guy on the phone who tells me I must have talked with the head lady who has the master list of the "glitches" and he has no acess to the list on his computor and she has not shown up for work yet. He gets my phone number from me and as soon as she shows up he will have her call me back with answers. Wow ! Now I'm getting somewhere ! NOT !! I NEVER got a call back and still do not have my stickers . My old stickers expired on March 31st. and I can not put my boat on the water ! Maybe I should contact the postmaster general and file mail fraud charges on them ?

Oh, I forgot. The check cleared my bank 5 days after we sent the check , so they do have my money.

pcpirate, I don't think I would let not having a sticker keep me off the water. Maybe you could carry your cancelled check with you indicating that you had paid for the renewal registration if you get stopped by a Game Warden. When we pay up for stuff, we shouldn't be held responsible because of their computer 'glitches'. However, I did receive my renewal notice in the mail today. Of course, I only have 14 or 15 working days for them to receive my check, process it and get my sticker back to me, unless I decide to drive to Ft. Worth and get it. I just hate having to deal with the city, county or state government for anything. bang bang
