I didnt know it was illegal to swim at a boat ramp; certainly unsafe and dangerous but not illegal.

If this is going on when I'm ready to launch, I give one stern but non rude warning and then proceed to launch the boat, albeit slower than usual. If they are there when I am leaving, I give several warning blips from my horn during my approach and continue to the dock. They will get out of your way. Ramps and docks are for boaters. They know this but I also realize this area is an inviting place. I'm not a jerk about it but I am all business with zero tolerance.

I didnt know it was illegal to swim at a boat ramp; certainly unsafe and dangerous but not illegal. I've seen a warden whip out the citation book for a repeat offender at Ray Bob. He was nice the first time and tried to educate the adult. His efforts were ignored and they were pretty much right back in the water before he drove away. The adult received a citation for something. May not have been for swimming at the dock but it still cost him money.

These were young kids whose parents could have cared less, their response when they were asked to remove their kids so that boats could load was "run over them if they won't move".
Stupid thing was that there is a roped off swim area in the park and the retards chose the boat ramp as their swimming hole.

Around here we have hundreds of old mining 'strip pits' owned by the state. Not only do people swim by the ramps but they will have their lawn chairs, coolers and everything else on the ramps and get pissy when you try to load or unload your boat. I've even had to move the leftovers from a campfire just to launch. BTW, this area is full of white trash.

It is against the law to swim at a boat ramp area, just as it is against the law to boat in a swimming area. Parents that let their kids swim in ramp areas have no regard for the safety of their children it would seem. If they had a boat they would probably be camped out on the boat ramp.

I posted this once before but I will do it again. I had a guy at the Heath ramp leave his 3 kids to tend 2 jet fleas about 12-15' out on the ramp. One of the kids was probably 3. I thought that I had made it before the ideas showed up but I was a little late or they were a little early. Well I started slowly backing in thinking they would move. They did not and he came running down from the parking lot and started to give me what for. All I can say is that he is damn lucky that I was not 10 - 15 years younger because back then I would have made sure he never fathered another. I just asked him what kind of idiot leaves young kids in the water on the ramp like that and he finally took off.

It can be very hard to see behind a truck, let alone a truck with a boat on it. These people obviously don't know the danger they are in from being backed into. And yes, it is illegal to swim from courtesy docks and boat ramps. You're not even supposed to fish from them!!!! The parents obviously have no regard for the safety of their children. At Little Elm, there is a boating officer. I spoke with him a couple times in the park. He was in a cruiser instead of his pre-WWII boat. I'm sure if you called the non-emergency number and reported it, that he would have cleared the area. I guess that is what it will take to let these parents know to USE THE HIGH DOLLAR BEACH WE JUST BUILT!!!!!! That is what it is there for.

Our little community at CC has a "private" ramp w/courtesy dock. Every weekend the place is overrun with campers, swimmers, fleas, and the catfish rods set up on the dock look like a cane break. Nothing is said about this by the POA board while at the same time my neighbor was issued a warning for having his riding mower parked beside his house and not inside his garage. These people who take over an area designated for a purpose other than that designated have no respect for others or their regulations. Safety is not even a consideration for them.

I have actually made people move a tent at 3am so that we could put our boat in and go duckhunting. It was pretty crazy. I think they were to sleepy...or drunk to get mad. What is funny is that they went back to sleep after we left and I know I saw at least 6 other trucks when we got back to the ramp so I bet they were pretty mad by the time the 6 boat went down to put in.
