Several reasons.
1. No crowd.
2. Lot's of deep water.
3. Plenty of cover.
4. Good fish.
5. Did I say no crowds? Well you could literally stay out of site for days on that lake.
6. ????? Yet to be decided. But, I'm gonna start to fish it more. It's no further than CC from me, and I think tubing can be real good from what I saw.
This list will grow.
Now I have lots of questions. Lot's to learn. But, from what I gathered in talking ot Jerry, and Paul, is that you can go tree to tree and catch good fish. They had around 40 and I think we may have caught 8-10 decent fish doing it all wrong.
If you are fishing this upcoming tournament. Make sure you have batteries... Trolling motor will be busy.
There are so many trees, you'll never fish them all. Not possible.
Having said all of that,I have one more thing to say. HELP!!!!!
All info on this lake, should be posted right here. I know that Paul will fill us all in on how to fish this lake at the next meeting, but, any info now will help people come up with a game plan for 06/07

brush piles, isolated trees, big oak tress, if not there fish ceders tress inside them then go to the outside of them. bridge pileons, fish the trees at any creek openings, one thing about RR is the early morning bite usually starts from about 7 or 8 ft. to start with. at least thats the way it was when i use to fish it regularly.

6. Ramps protected from the wind.
I like fishing the trees and they seem to be coming back. You will find several people working the trees on any given day, most in the am. We will pull a few off then move to the next one. If you don't get a bite within 5 minutes, move to the next. Although we zero in on the cedar trees, others will produce. As mentioned earlier, bridges will hold fish although less consistent.
You can't fix Stupid

I used to fish the vine only but the last 3-4 years I started fishing Roberts and I have learned to really like it,my biggest grip with it is the ratio of small fish to keepers you catch, when it comes to that grapevine has it beat hands down, the up side is the lack of recreational boaters and the many different places to fish without getting crowded, right now given a choice I would still take the vine but I am starting to lean a little bit more toward the bob.
