This was fun! I spend about an hour and half out at Colleyville Nature Center this afternoon and caught my fist and second largemouths on flies of my own tying. This little guy took a tan gurgler I'd tied up for my recent trip to Port A(where I didn't catch anyting). He hit it as soon as it hit the water. This solid 3+ lber took a larger florecent pink and chartruse clouser. Nice! First and last casts of the afteroon.

Nice going, very nice. Its a lot of fun to catch them on your own flies.

It doesn't get any better than that now. Catching bass on your first flies...congrats...it is a wonderful feeling!

Way to go! Those a great!
I tried several times this weekend to walk down to those ponds - but alas company and kids activities kept me busy!
Which pond were you fishing? I generally fish the 3 big ones on the west end closest to the Hurst entrance.
I just started this fly thing - so if you see a guy out there trying his best not to hook himself with a fly - that would probably be me!

I believe we are fishing the same ponds. I always come from Hwy 26 on the east, but I do fish the 3 ponds in the back farthest west. My mastery of casting my 8wt is far far from a work of art, but I'm working on it.

Kube,
PM me next time you are headed out there and if I can I will meet you. Always interested in learning and meeting new fly-fishers as I am a total noob at this fly thing!

Kube, Great fish and story. And an even better feeling. One of these days I will get to the point of only fishing flies I tied... It can be addictive. But again, great fish.
