In the second picture it looks exactly like a ball python.
That's a cool fish.

It is not a fungus, it is a pigmentation problem. These are healthy fish, just the pigment appears different. Caught plenty like this on Rayburn and Toledo Bend.

Perfectly healthy fish. Imagine having a birth mark, thats what it is.

cool fish, I've caught a lot of bass with the black spots, and believe the bioligists who say its just pigmentation, but I have never seen one with other colors as well like this.

I've seen fish with spots like that, and I was told that when fish make their beds to spawn, their skin irritates and bruises and produces those spots. Never seen anything like that though.

Fishing's ALWAYS good, It's the catching that varies!!

Whatever caused it, I'll bet that bass can hide out real well in the brush when he decides he wants to ambush a few minnows!

Nice Pics & unusual coloring on an LMB,

Looks like he caught "The Dreaded Mad Cow Bass".. banana

Seroiusly though: We caught one with similar spots during a Tournament earlier this year. After it was in the Livewell all day, the spots dissappeared by weigh-in time that afternoon. It appears to be some sort of Fungus.

LMAO! Nice. Do you put anything in your livewell? Like catch and release?

i've seen it on bass and on crappie on tawokoni and cedar creek in early spring when they first come out of cold deep water. when they get a little sun the spots will go away. they actually say its a sign of a healthy bass.
