hey people,
my lady and i went out and threw some casts for bass yesterday around the mouth of barton creek where it comes into TL and saw a ton of really really big carp cruising on top of all of the vegetation out there. I know chumming and some corn on my number 6 hook will be a good start but with all of that vegetation how in the world do i fish them right? Also, if anyone has tips on how to fish bass up there it would be awesome too! The water was super clear so we could see them out about 25 feet in front of us. it was pretty neat. now i want to see one on the shore next to me!!!

Erock, those are probably grass carp or white amur. Last time I was out there in a boat they were everywhere.

i would try a bobber with mais or bread floating on top of grass bearly toutching it. and for the BASS i would run down by the bridge. with some creature baits. Lizards, big texas rigged worms, and on the way to the bridge i would work hte shore line by throwing a texas rigged worm under the trees. and if ya c a sand bar get below it and throw a lipless crank bait up streem and crank it with the current back to the boat, but don't get to close or you will spook them. this ushly works because the BASS will ushly wait for food down streem of the sand bar where the water is calmer and when a piece of food or luer comes by they ambush it. Hopes this helps and let us know how it works next time you get out there.

If they are indeed white amur (grass carp), you can tie a single hook to your line (no weight, no swivels, no bobber--nuttin' but a hook) and bait it was a cherry tomato, a green bean, a grape, or even a piece of banana peel. Other vegetable baits may work if they float.
