River came up slightly above lake Buchanan so I went out and took a buddy fishing. Al never been on a real catfishing trip so we were hoping to get at least one over 20 lbs.

This guy pulled the full gallon jug under like it was a bobber. We had perfect baits on R&R but I was let down for the first time in my "old faithful" hole.

Ended up with 15 blues and this dandy flathead. We would of caught a ton more but it was a very long day and we ended up sleeping instead of fishing during the night. And I'm pretty sure some other guys were running our lines. The lines close to us had the usual hook-up rates averaging 1 fish per 3 hook jug. Around the corner, closer to these other guys lines, we caught zero and had no bait.

Anyone want to guess the flatheads weight? Keep in mind Al is a big guy as you can tell comparing him to me LOL.

I can not give up my hot spot LOL. But yes I was up river from Tow. When ever you want a guided trip up there eddie just let me know. You pay far gas and I'll put you on the fish, or at least try. We usually do pretty good but we also try to time it right and fish hard.

I knew the CPR thing would pop up. I do not recall saying that, but if I did it was in an obvious sarcastic post. I do mostly practice CPR. The guy I took wanted to eat it and I know for a fact he never wastes any fish. I know because I'm his supplier LOL. He runs low and I go fishing. Buchanan is no where near the catfish endanger mark either. I would have thrown it back if by myself or with my regular fishing buddy.
I did not keep it because it was a big fish. We catch 5-10 that big per year so it does not hurt a bit to throw one back. I do not even take pics anymore of fish under 20 lbs.

BTW - it was extra yellow because the water was hot and it was hard keeping it alive all night. It was not THAT yellow when we caught it.

I say 40, they always look bigger when you flare out the gill plates and hold them at arms length.

I'll say 45 because 44 is already taken.

Berkley digital was reading between 33.9 and 34 lbs.

This shows you how much some people exagerate. I thought it was closer to 50 when I saw how it was pulling the jug under so easy. Was suprised a little when it was only 34 lbs.
