Went to Tyler for the weekend to see some relatives and fish the old home lake. Fished with an old friend that had only caught 1 hybrid in his life. Boy were we in for a treat. This was the first time I have been on Palestine for over a year so with Ouachita still on my mind I decided to pull some planer boards and cover alot of water to find fish. Got out at daybreak and as soon as we got our spread out Jeff ties into an 8.5 lb. BRUTE!



From then on it was ON! We stayed busy running lines and fighting fish all morning. Jeff picked up on things very quickly and before I knew it he was running his side of the boat. We caught fish at most water depths from 5 ft to 30 ft. Although most fish were caught in the 20 ft. range. Ended the day with around 30 hybrids 4-8 pounds with most in the 5-6 pound range.
All fish were released except for 2 of the smaller hybrids that were deep hooked.

Nice fish! I have been thinking about trying planer boards for a couple of months now. I think you just made up my mind. Where you pulling crankbaits behind the boards?

No we were pulling shad and perch.

Don't know, I released her for you and Tron to catch after she hits the 10 lb class.
