I was fishing Little Caney Creek today north of Hideaway Harbor Marina and saw what looked like a log floating about 50 yds from me, but the log was moving and there wasn't any wind. I looked closer and saw that it was an alligaor about 8' long swimming across the creek. That was the last thing I ever expected to see out there. I moved closer to it but when I got about 50' away it went under and never resurfaced.

My brother and I saw a gator several years ago on fork. He was sunning himself on the bank.

Rumor has it that some local Bass fisherman planted several gators to help curb the explosion of Hybrids and Sandbass exploiting the lake. eek eek

WAR EAGLE!
Now Txbass I'm from New Orleans originally and gators in the swamp were not uncommon, so I'm used to them. Now War Eagles in the swamp we usually shot and fed to the gators. I'm glad Auburn had a great year last year and it should have been y'all playing USC for the title, I think Auburn could have beaten them.

Cool! I have heard quite a few reports of Aligators out there. I used to fish some private lakes near Mineola years ago while in Boy Scouts and I can attest to them being out there. One was hanging out in one of the lakes. I casted my top water over his back to get a closer look at him. I stopped reeling when he was about 15 feet from the shore. He just went along with it. Kids started throwing sticks at him. He got pissed and thrashed around before diving under. I have seen several also down in Athens at the Boy Scout camp down there. I was at a summer bass clinic and we had a 10 foot+ one literrly bend the trolling moter all the way back when he swam in front of us. They have one in the museum over 12 foot plus stuffed that was killed there.

I saw an aligator at Caney Creek about 4 years ago on the bank, I always heard there were gators out there but didn't believe it. We threw some rocks at him and he got pissed and went in the water and i never saw him again, glad I wasn't swimmin, that'd be a real ****** situation.

watch your language please.

We see them nearly every time at Millwood from 4ft to 8ft They must see so many boats they just ignore you unless you get real close.

Photographed 2 in one weekend at Rayburn. They never let you get close before they go under. Defense mechanism and millions of years of instinct. I was told the ones at Fork were put there to guard the brood ponds to prevent poaching before the lake was impounded. Go figure.... cool

The gators were in the creek long before the
lake was built. TPWD captured several during and after construction and transported them to another creek nearby where they were released. They range a lot further north than Fork. My Mom lives near Ardmore Ok, and there have been several large ones found in
farm ponds around there.
Good luck
