This year one of my resolutions is to start using and hopefully catching crappie on jigs. In the past I was a minnow only person.

My question is that when fishing brushpiles in 15-20' of water what kind of setup or how do you rig when you are using jigs. I am just curious how you get a light 1/16 ounce jig down that far in a timely manner and once you do is getting broken off a problem if you are using the light line that would seem to go with smaller jigs?

Thanks

just tie it on and drop it down, a couple feet at a time, or drop it to the bottom, and bring it up slowly..

For the lighter jigs, just add a bb shot above it, or fix up a drop shot, or tandem rig

Good luck, I caught 10 to my wifes 3 today using jigs

Use weedless 1|8 ounce and 2 in jigs doesnt take that jig long to get down there then just feel your way through the brush. You will learn when your hanging up and just let it down and crawl it up this will trigger the strike.Hope this helps

Yassir had the same problem.
I tell you for me it was all about the line. Rig up One pole with 1 lb diam. 8 lb test(PowerPro). Can only get this stuff at cabellas.
At least that I know of in Yellow. I use a 1/8 jighead most of the time and that line and that is all you need to know..
The line will easily fall for you and try not to get hung up because you will not break off. But for me Jigs dont seem to get hung near as often as minnow setup.
Dont get any of this wrong I will gladly tie on a minnow any day if the jigs will not produce.

Goodluck Lord knows I need it.
